Two sets of "Track N Go" snow tracks have recently been installed on marked police vehicles to help in navigating the city's streets during periods when normal driving conditions are difficult or impossible. They've proven valuable so far, especially to serve residential neighborhoods whose streets may not be plowed regularly and to bring in essential workers that may not be able to make it to work otherwise.

The NHSFR after its venue in Kansas City was unable to host it in those years. The Cam-plex facilities, which have hosted the NHSFR on and off since 1993, were scheduled to host the National Junior High School Finals Rodeo in those years before it was was relocated to an Oklahoma venue on a long-term contract. The Cam-plex will host the 2023 NHSFR, which marks the rodeo's 75th anniversary.

Every January, communities across the country come together and try to estimate the homeless population by going out at night and trying to locate those without a place to stay. Point in Time happens in late January in Wyoming. In Gillette, the Council of Community Services (CCS) also hosted its annual event on the same day this year. It’s meant to connect the local homeless population with several social service agencies to help them get back on their feet.

The Youth Emergency Services House, or Y.E.S. House in Gillette has housed young adults ages 18-24 at the Brook Street Inn as part of their Youth Homeless Demonstration Project. Approximately 30 young people from Northeast Wyoming have been housed at the leased hotel since the program's inception in October 2021.

The future of a Gillette football team is more certain after its owner inks a contract with Cam-plexThe owner of the Gillette Mustangs, an expansion team playing in the Champions Indoor Football league since 2021, was seeking a better contract with its host venue, which included concerns over rent costs and game-related preparation. The new agreement is for three years with possible capital upgrades, such as a video screen scoreboard, being considered as part of a long-term desire to expand the uses of the Cam-plex facilities and provide more sports options to Gillette.

The OSPA Wyoming tour is performing at the Rockpile Museum on Jan. 5 and will also perform in Sheridan, Buffalo, Casper, Laramie, Cheyenne, Rock Springs, and Jackson. The band promotes traditional and contemporary Basque music and dance and celebrates the mixed musical heritage of the Basque diaspora, which has a presence in parts of Wyoming and the Mountain West.

The committee was launched in 2018 to help address these issues in the county, but was disbanded at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be revived in January with city, county, educational, prevention, and nonprofit organizations having a presence in addition to the public, which will have a larger role. This comes as Campbell County has set a record for suicides in a single year in 2022.

A nonprofit food distribution program in Campbell County has received a grant to meet increased needThe Edible Prairie Project provides non-perishable food items via repurposed newspaper stands at several locations in Gillette and one in Wright. A recent $1,000 grant from the Gillette Elks Lodge will allow for more food to be purchased for those in need at a time when demand for it is at record levels. Two more newspaper stands are set to be added to the network of pantries in January.

It recognizes projects, initiatives, or best practices in a community that are meant to overcome challenges faced by communities, states, or regions to provide a stronger future.

Workshops on wildlife trap awareness, safety for pet owners are being offered in Sheridan & GilletteThe Wyoming Game & Fish Department and Wyoming State Trappers Association are hosting the workshops, which will offer hands-on demonstrations on how common wildlife traps and snares work in addition on how to remove pets that become trapped in them. There are several cases of pets being caught in these devices in Wyoming each year.
