Living under the totalitarian rule of the Party, Winston Smith has the idea of writing a diary. It is a crime punishable by death and there is no way of knowing if he is being watched. He imagines two futures—in one, a future readership in a free society thinks of him as a hero; in the other, he is caught, executed, and forgotten. Perhaps both things are true. Winston starts the diary, writing the year, so far as he knows it: 1984. This multi-award winning adaptation of George Orwell’s ultimate dystopian novel continues to resonate throughout the world.

Stop by Lander's Pioneer Museum to view Wyoming Public Media's Wyoming 250 Photo Contest Exhibit. The opening reception on April 3rd features a presentation by Randall Wise, the Museum's Director.

Randall's presentation will explore:
“Painting with light - Wyoming’s history through the camera lens – images of Wyoming and Fremont County from territorial days to the present."
Today’s history is recorded with digital phones, but people have been taking images of our area since photography first became common. This 30 minute talk by Lander Museum Director Randy Wise will feature images from the earliest days of photography in the state to the present.
Featuring the first images ever taken photographically in Wyoming by W.H. Jackson in the 1860s, to historically significant images by Stimson, Leek and others. The talk also features photos taken by early Lander Valley Pioneers recording life in the Cowboy State in the early 2oth century.

After the talk, guests can enjoy light refreshments and enjoy the contemporary photographic images that are part of the Wyoming Public Media 250 Travelling exhibit. (View the virtual exhibit online). The exhibit will travel around Wyoming throughout 2026. Stop by to pick up a free calendar! All are welcome.

Free and open to the public, the talk starts at 6 PM in the Western Gallery of the Lander Museum.
