Join Sheridan Community Land Trust for a special summer evening at the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area, celebrating the ongoing restoration of historic Streetcar #115. Set among 118 acres of conserved open space along Big Goose Creek, this community gathering marks an exciting milestone in bringing back to life a treasured piece of Sheridan’s transportation history.

One hundred years after the streetcar was retired — and fifty years after its first restoration — visitors will have the opportunity to see Streetcar #115 up close, learn about the progress being made, and hear the story of the car’s journey from carrying passengers through the streets of Sheridan to becoming a community-driven preservation effort for future generations.

Beloved Festival Orchestra member Conrad Jones moves from the brass section to the front of the stage to perform Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto, one of the finest concertos ever written for the instrument, and the only one Haydn ever wrote. In contrast to Haydn’s singular piece are two works by important 20th century icons – a playful literary overture by American Samuel Barber, The School for Scandal Overture, and an incredibly precocious college graduation project by Dmitri Shostakovich, his Symphony No. 1.

GTMF will host the 9th Annual Scholarship Competition in honor of Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles. The competition is open to graduating high school seniors from Wyoming, Idaho or Montana who are pursuing a music degree in college.

Join SCLT History Program Manager Kevin Knapp for the very first guided walking tour of the Sheridan Railroad Historic District. This inaugural tour will explore the people, industries, and landmarks that helped shape Sheridan into a vital rail hub of the American West.

The tour begins at Grinnell Plaza (55 Grinnell Plaza), just outside Sheridan City Hall, on July 18 at 1:00 p.m. From there, participants will walk approximately ¾ mile through the historic district—primarily on sidewalks and paved surfaces—uncovering stories of early railroad development, local entrepreneurs, and the enduring legacy of rail transportation in the community. The tour is expected to last between 45 minutes and an hour. There are places along the tour where you can sit and rest.

This tour will also be offered on August 15.

In partnership with the Driggs Downtown Sounds Concert Series, this special collaboration between the Grand Teton Music Festival and the Teton Valley Chamber Music Festival will feature a string quartet and five vocalists. Celebrate the beauty of opera with solo arias, duets, instrumental interludes, and a combined grand finale!
