The Sheridan College Agri-Park will once again be open after budget cuts caused the indoor rodeo arena to temporarily close.
The college will now work with the Sheridan WYO Rodeo Board to make it available for rent to community members and manage the facility.Northern Wyoming Community College District President Walter Tribley said the board has the experience to do it.
"The WYO Rodeo Board's proposal and their proven demonstrated ability to put on events, large and small, to manage the insurance liability, crowd control, marketing, the cashier-ing of all of that, and a highly respected community partner, they stood up for it. We couldn't be more pleased that they did," he said.
Tribley added that the facility is a part of the community's connection to its Western heritage.
"This really extends the culture and the benefits of participating in coaching and simply spectating rodeo. And it's a big part of the culture of our state and certainly Sheridan and Sheridan County," he said.
The college rodeo team will have priority usage for the facility before community events. Though there are limits to events due to the pandemic and all public health guidelines will be followed.
The contract between the college and the board will run through June.
