May 01 Friday
Stop by the Meeteetse Museum to view Wyoming Public Media's Wyoming 250 Photo Contest Exhibit. The opening reception on May 1st features a presentation by Sam Lightner, Wyoming author.
Sam's presentation will explore his book:“In the Valley of the Warm Winds. " According to his website, "At the dawn of the 19th century, unprecedented change lay in front of western North America, and no region was more greatly affected or contested than what would become Wyoming. Larger than life characters like Jim Bridger and Tom Fitzpatrick, followed by Benjamin Bonneville and John Fremont, and then Brigham Young and General George Crook, as well as hundreds of thousands of immigrants seeking a better life in the west, would help to guide that change. "Among the indigenous people of the region, Chief Washakie shone as a luminary figure, renowned for his astute diplomacy and formidable military expertise. As a beacon of leadership, Washakie navigated a labyrinth of decisions, ultimately leading his people to claim the most coveted territory in the intermountain West."
After the talk, guests can enjoy light refreshments and enjoy the Wyoming's History Through Listeners' Eyes photo exhibit. (View the virtual exhibit online). The exhibit will travel around Wyoming throughout 2026.
Free and open to the public, the talk starts at 2 PM at the Meeteetse Museum. Stop by to pick up a free calendar! All are welcome.

The opera is based on Pushkin’s iconic verse novel, which reimagines the Byronic romantic anti-hero as the definitive bored Russian aristocrat caught between convention and ennui.
