Mullen Fire Is Heading South

Chip Redmond

The Mullen Fire continues to be very active with increasing smoke in southern Wyoming and northern Colorado.

Most fire activity is along the Pelton Creek Campground and pushing south towards the Colorado state line. Firefighters have used large aircraft to fight the fire and ground firefighters have also been focusing on protecting structures.

Tuesday night the Albany County Sheriff's office confirmed damage to property including damage or destruction of 29 dwellings. Fire officials say that windy conditions and an abundance of downed timber could lead to further spread. The fire has covered roughly 103,000 acres.
