National Blue Ribbons Awarded To Wyoming Schools

Three Wyoming elementary schools have received the National Blue Ribbon Recognition for exemplary high performance. Fort Casper Academy in Natrona County, Wilson Elementary in Teton County and South Side Elementary in Worland were amongst 330 public and private schools in the U.S. selected to receive this award.

“There is absolutely recognition and reward for the students because they’re the ones that do it. Our teachers and staff work hard, but if the students don’t put in the effort, if they don’t care, then it doesn’t happen, and our students do very much care,” said Duane Dewald, Administrative Manager at Fort Casper Academy.

To earn the Blue Ribbon, schools are evaluated on their performance based on state assessments and national standards. Wilson Elementary Principle Kathy Milburn said the award is a pinnacle of achievement for schools.

“I am so proud of my staff and the kids in our school because certainly it took everyone because our school is truly, I believe, a wonderful place for kids to grow up in,” said Milburn.

In the 34 years the award has been given, less than 8,500 schools have been selected to receive the Blue Ribbon.
