In this live class, join Pastel Society of America Signature Artist Jennifer L. Hoffman to explore various approaches to pastel color mixing in this 2-hour exploration. Using birds as subject matter, Jen will guide participants through the concepts of visual color mixing, blending, underpainting, and color play by creating the same composition in three variations.
Suggested Supplies to Bring:For this class, participants are encouraged to bring their own soft pastels. Participants will have plenty of materials to explore from both the Museum and Jen’s personal art supplies, but bringing your own pastels will help you get the most out of the class. If able, please bring:-Your favorite soft pastels in a range of light to dark values and a variety of colors (no oil pastels, please).-A small set of high-quality soft pastels, such as Terry Ludwig, Sennelier, Great American Artworks, Richeson, is suggested. Half-stick sets are a great, more affordable option.-Please avoid inexpensive “chalk” sets, as these are simply dyed chalk and won’t mix or blend effectively.

In fast-moving environments, it’s easy for urgency, pressure, and outside expectations to quietly pull leaders away from their values. Yet the leaders and organizations that endure across business, nonprofits, and public service are those that stay steady when decisions are difficult and the path forward isn’t clear.
This Noontime Knowledge session with Hailey Morton-Levinson on Wednesday, Feb. 4th from 12:00-1:30pm explores how values-based leadership shows up in everyday choices, especially when the stakes are high or the tradeoffs are uncomfortable. Participants will consider what it means to lead for the long term—whether their “community” is a place, a customer base, a team, or a mission—and how staying grounded in values builds trust, resilience, and sustainable success over time.Registration is $25 and space is limited. Register here: https://form.jotform.com/Silicon_Couloir/NTK-leadership.
In the Fur Felted Cowboy Hat class you will learn about the history of the Stetson Fur Felted Hat. Work starts with a pre-formed body and uses traditional tools that students make. Tool making, 3D printed had forms, wet forming, steam hardening, brim cutting, and sewn sweatbands are covered. All materials provided, no experience necessary.
