Enter the Wyoming Public Media 2025 Photo Contest (September 1-30)!
Wyoming Public Media invites Wyomingites to get out and take photos they think reflect Wyoming’s history, while sharing their stories in the process.
Post your Wyoming photos below for a chance to have your snapshot featured on the Wyoming Public Media website, calendars, note cards, and other media at the station. Merely type in your picture’s caption, your name, and e-mail address.

The University of Wyoming’s American Heritage Center (AHC) invites the public to the opening of its newest exhibition, “Armed in the Wilderness: An Exhibit About Outdoor Recreation, Conservation, and the Women and Men Who Built the Literary Genre.” The exhibit examines literary works on outdoor recreation from the Toppan Rare Books Library dating back to 1704, which illustrate how hunting, fishing, and conservation topics have changed over time, including African hunting expeditions of elite Americans like Osa and Martin Johnson.
The evening will also feature speaker Conrad Froehlich, who served as director of the Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum in Chanute, KS for 36 years He is currently working on a book about the Johnsons.

Come explore the artifacts that pertain to the historical sites of the Big Goose Creek walking tour. Museum at the Bighorns Museum Director, Carrie Ida Edinger will share visuals of photographs, objects and other items from the museum’s collection that relate to the Sheridan Brewery, Sheridan Manufacturing Company Flour Mill, the Mandel Cabin, and Big Goose Creek. This presentation will share a portion of the museum’s collection as well as tell Sheridan’s history, culture and Big Goose Creek as an essential natural resource to our area.
SCLT Explore History is free to attend and open to all.
The 15th annual Memory of the 8 is a community event held to remember and honor the 8 University of Wyoming Cross Country runners who lost their lives in an accident caused by a drunk driver 24 years ago and to remind the community of the dangers of impaired driving.The event includes a 5K Walk/Run, an 8-Mile run, and a Kids Run, beginning and ending at M&K Oil, 901 S. 4-J Rd. in Gillette. Registration is free and can be done online at: runsignup.com/Race/WY/Gillette/Memoryofthe8Gillette or on-sight beginning at 4:00 the day of the event. A barbecue and social time will be held after the run. Donations are accepted and shirts and hats will be available for purchase.

Cheyenne Audubon members invite the public for a free tour of Audubon projects at Lions Park and birdwatching Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. Meet in Lions Park at the parking lot between the Children’s Village and the picnic shelter and be prepared to walk a mile around the lake, or less, if preferred. Lions Park is a Wyoming Important Bird Area. Recent Audubon projects include installing IBA signs, designing interpretive signs and encouraging native plant growth in unmown areas. Join Us for the 27th Annual Awards & Recognition Breakfast. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming will honor Barbara Cubin, the first woman to represent Wyoming in Congress, for her trailblazing leadership and dedication to the state. Nationally recognized journalist and Boys & Girls Club alum Will Reeve will serve as the featured speaker. The event takes place Wednesday, September 17, at the Ford Wyoming Center. Join Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation, Bear Wise Jackson Hole, and Farmstead Cider as we collect apples from around Jackson to reduce bear attractants this fall.
