Senate File 48 passed the House on a 44-18 vote on its third reading, having previously pass the Senate on a 31-0 vote last month. It's now been received for concurrence in the Senate, meaning one chamber agrees to a bill or proposal the other chamber has approved. It will eventually be presented to the governor.

HB0068 would have allowed for surveillance cameras to be placed at crosswalks in school zones as a safety measure. It would also have allowed citations to be issued for drivers who were caught violating traffic laws in these zones. Supporters of the bill said it would have helped law enforcement catch offenders and improve students safety while opponents questioned its constitutionality and effectiveness.
