Wyoming basketball will be showcased this season multiple times both in-person and on the big screen. The women’s team got a spot on Fox Sports 1 - the first time the squad has been featured on national television during the regular season since 2012. The men’s team has dates reserved on Fox and CBS.

The city regularly hosts a wide variety of athletic events, including events and tournaments for baseball, basketball, wrestling, soccer, hockey, football, swimming and diving, and dance, among others. An increased emphasis has been placed on hosting additional events. There are also tentative plans on expanding the city's athletic infrastructure to increase capacity. Sports tourism has proven to provide a boost to the local economy when seasonal tourism slows down.

During 2020 and 2021 there were closures due to the pandemic. Kaedon Berry with Live a Little Entertainment Group out of Idaho said that affected their bottom line. But since rallies are largely held outside he's seen the sport bounce back. He sees a renewed interest in the sport, which he thinks is great, but operation costs can be expensive.

The CNFR has called Casper's Ford Wyoming Center home since 1999 and has been held there annually since then with the exception of 2020 due to the pandemic. Around 400 of the nation's top student athletes representing more than 11 regions and 100 different colleges and universities are competing in the hopes of achieving the coveted title of national champion.
