The more than 2,000-acre site plans to feature a variety of shooting sports and a massive event center. The project is still figuring out driving access, agreements between the local government board operating it and state agencies, raising funds and potential wildlife mitigation.

The amount of money generated by Wyoming’s outdoor recreation economy grew by just over 6% in 2023 to $2.2 billion.

A task force voted this week to site the forthcoming facility on nearly 2,000 acres of land near Cody. It’s expected to accommodate shotgun, pistol and rifle ranges, as well as archery.

The legislative task force determined that gunfire could one day ring out from a multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art shooting range to be located in either Park or Campbell counties.
