The Wyoming Cowboys are gearing up for their first NCAA tournament game since 2015 when they take on Indiana tonight. The Hoosiers are led by Trayce Jackson-Davis who averaged 18 points a game this season. Wyoming is led by all conference players Graham Ike who averages nearly 20 points a game and Hunter Maldonado who averages 18 points and six assists a game.

Wyoming struggled on offense in the last couple of weeks of the season. Head Coach Jeff Linder noted that he has a young team that had to play a lot of games in a short amount of time.

“When you have a team as young as mine where the top seven players you have, four Covid freshmen and one true freshman, those Covid freshman never felt what a full season felt like and I think when it got to mid-February this year you could tell our guys hit a little but of a wall, especially as the schedule got so condensed with the Covid and make up scheduling,” said Linder.

But Wyoming’s Drake Jeffries said if the Cowboys win it’ll be because of their ability to slow down and control Indiana.

“We really pride ourselves on defense, so we’re gonna sit down and try to get stops and do what we do and try not to do too much. It’s the big dance, a big stage, and I think we’ll do what we do and do best,” said Jeffries.

Tipoff is at 7:10 p.m. tonight and the game will be televised by truTV.
