On Tuesday, March 17, the Wyoming Department of Health reported the eleventh confirmed case of the coronavirus in the state. The department says the newest case is an older man in Laramie County, and he is not currently hospitalized.
State health officials are following up with people who may have had close contact with him.
This is the first case reported in Laramie County, while the other ten cases are in Fremont and Sheridan counties. On Monday evening, the Department of Health reported seven confirmed cases related to the first reported case in Fremont County. All eight are either staff or residents of the Showboat Retirement Center in Lander.
There are two confirmed cases in Sheridan County, which are connected to each other.
A spokeswoman for the Wyoming Department of Health said testing for the disease has increased so far this week, with the Wyoming Public Health Laboratory running 54 tests on Monday. The spokeswoman said there is no backlog of tests.
As of Tuesday, the lab has run 95 tests.
