Mobile Food Pantry Coming To Gillette

Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies

The Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies' mobile pantry will be visiting Gillette over the next couple of weeks to support people affected by the recent mine closures.

The mobile pantry will be in Gillette on Monday, July 29 to help distribute fresh produce and other food.

Shanna Harris, director of the Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies, said the group has been sending resources to local organizations, but they are becoming overwhelmed.

"They've been doing a really good job at this time, and we've been sending additional products up there to them. But sometimes they don't have the capacity to hold a lot of food or the volunteer hours to be open to others. So we are doing this to alleviate some of that stress," Harris said.

She added they sent the mobile food pantry to Gillette during past mine closures.

"We went within a matter of days last time. And what we did this time was we sent more resources to Campbell County, and it's been 3 weeks, and we'll probably see more of the ripple effect," Harris said.

The mobile food pantry will be in Gillette in the parking lot of Family Life Church on July 29 and August 19 from 1 to 6 p.m.
