Kamila has worked for public radio stations in California, New York, France and Poland. Originally from New York City, she loves exploring new places. Kamila received her master in journalism from Columbia University. She has won a regional Murrow award for her reporting on mental health and firearm owners. During her time leading the Wyoming Public Media newsroom, reporters have won multiple PMJA, Murrow and Top of the Rockies Excellence in Journalism Awards. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the surrounding areas with her two pups and husband.

Coal has played a significant role in the United Kingdom – and British identity – since the Industrial Revolution. Coal first generated electricity in the country in the 1880s. It was the country’s largest bulk export until 1939. Even the word “smog” was coined in London for the hazy skyline coal power created. But now, the U.K. is the world’s first major economy to quit coal power, beating a climate-focused deadline the government set back in 2015. -
Laramie will be celebrating a new trail that connects town to the nearby trail system this Saturday. It showcases an industry Wyoming towns are buying into more and more. -
The United Kingdom is the first major developed country to phase out coal power. Today is the first day no coal power plant is operating in the country. The British consul general for the northwest U.S. says Wyoming can learn from the U.K.’s transition away from coal.

Wyoming Game and Fish caught a boat with live invasive zebra mussels earlier this week. This was the first boat with live mussels found at a check station in the state this year. -
An evacuation order is still in effect for the residents of Borderline Estates and Ranchets. The Short Draw Fire is expected to continue to grow due to forecasted winds. -
The Bear Creek Fire is now approximately 2,500 acres with unknown containment. Multiple agencies are helping on the scene, including Albany and Platte county fire departments and the Bureau of Land Management. -
For the past two years, two Wyoming call centers have been servicing all calls to the 988 suicide hot line coming from a 307 area code. Now, those who text with a 307 number will also get a response from someone in Wyoming. Beforehand texts were going to national call centers. -

The Labor, Health and Social Services Committee’s top subject during this interim was how to increase the number of labor and delivery and maternity health care professionals in the state. This, after the state lost three labor and delivery units over the past six years. -
Mathew Malcom ran as a Republican in the primary election for House District 61, which represents an eastern region of Cheyenne. He lost to Republican incumbent Daniel Singh by 153 votes. Malcolm has since filed a complaint in state district court in Cheyenne saying a Wyoming law violates the Wyoming State Constitution.
