Emergency unemployment compensation program benefits will be reduced under the federal government’s budget sequester.
Wyoming Workforce Services Director Joan Evans that the program provides unemployed individuals who have exhausted regular unemployment insurance benefits. Evans says the reduction will likely be noticeable.
“In Wyoming the current average emergency management unemployment compensation payment is about $330. As a result of our federal sequestration that means an individual receiving an average weekly benefit would see their payment reduced by about $76 a week.”
Evans stresses that would impact any new claim filed after May 26th. Those currently receiving state or federal benefits would not see a reduction. She says people with questions should contact their local Workforce Services office.
