The non-partisan League of Women Voters of Laramie (LWVL) and the Albany County Public Library (ACPL) are sponsoring Albany County General Election Candidate Forums on Thursday evenings, September 3, 10, 17, 24, October 1, 8, from 7 – 9 pm. These will be hybrid events, in-person at ACPL (310 S 8th St) and live streamed online and available for viewing afterwards on the ACPL, wyominglwv.org websites. This is a great way to learn about each candidate's stances and motivations for running and to ask questions.

Join us for the unveiling and dedication of the Grizzly 399 Monument, to be held on September 9, 2026, at 5 p.m. The Grizzly 399 Monument was created under the artistic leadership of Jocelyn Russell; a distinguished wildlife sculptor whose body of work includes more than sixty public monuments recognized for their expressive realism. Kristen Douglas-Seitz and Colleen Moore contributed to the project as members of the sculpting team.

The monument, showing 399 and her famous quads, will be permanently installed near the museum’s front entrance, where it will be accessible to the public. Its placement provides an enduring setting to honor Grizzly 399, one of the most widely recognized wildlife figures of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, within a cultural institution devoted to wildlife art and conservation storytelling.

The public dedication event is free and open to all and will include remarks, an artist meet-and-greet, and educational programming:
5 – 5:30 p.m. — Dedication ceremony and remarks
5:30 – 6 p.m. — Artist meet-and-greet
6 – 7 p.m. — Public presentation in the museum auditorium, featuring insight into the creation of the sculpture and a question-and-answer session with the artist

Complimentary food and beverages will be available between 5 and 6 p.m.

This unique offering is a time to gather in community for the highest good. No experience is necessary. After a brief introduction and description of Reiki, universal Lifeforce healing energy there will be a time to share intentions. Reiki can be sent to something as small as a sore thumb or as big as world Peace. Everyone present will hold the intention for the highest healing and Good as we share and send our energies during this 20 minute meditation. Once we complete our meditation, the energies will be sent on their way out into the world. This can be a very powerful practice, especially for situations that can feel out of our control. Heaviness becomes much lighter when shared. If you are ready to answer this call, then you are meant to be there and your energies are needed.
