Senate President Ogden Driskill (R-Devils Tower) said the donation violated part of the state’s Election Code. The code says political party funds can’t be used to try to get one candidate to win over another in a primary where both candidates are in the same party.

The Alzheimer’s Association of Wyoming recently received a more than $15,000 grant from the Wyoming Community Foundation to bring in-person education programs to the southwest and northeast corners of the state. The grant will support programming in Lincoln, Sublette, Sweetwater, Uinta, Crook, Niobrara and Weston counties.

The Wyoming Game & Fish Department recently approved a permit that allows for twice the number of deer than normal to be culled in response to rising chronic wasting disease (CWD) rates in city limits and the Black Hills region. The city has applied for a deer culling permit in previous years to reduce conflicts between residents and deer, though this wasn't related to concerns over CWD.

The city previously had a judge to hear these cases once a week that travelled from Gillette, though the amount collected from citations didn't cover the expenses of the court and their travel. The town also disbanded their police department at the same time as a cost-saving measure, contracting with Crook County to provide police services.

Neiman Enterprises operates sawmills in four states and employs approximately 250 workers at their Hulett and Spearfish, South Dakota facilities. The Black Hills National Forest has reduced the amount of timber available for sale for commercial logging operations, which led to the closure of their Hill City, South Dakota facility last year.

After 35 years at the Big Horn Equestrian Center near Big Horn, this year's show will join forces with the annual Fourth of July display at Devils Tower. Several thousand attendees come each year to see fireworks light up the night sky in Crook County while donating thousands of dollars to the local fire department and EMS.

Continued skepticism about the integrity of elections and the belief in widespread voter fraud could lead to the closure of several polling locations in rural parts of the county in order to monitor other polling sites more closely.

The decision comes after a report released last year by the Forest Service advised for a reduction in the number of trees that are released for commercial operations in an effort to provide a recovery period for future harvest levels. The local timber and forest products industry has since felt the impact of this reduction and has also raised questions about its future in the Black Hills region.

The Old West Invitational Turkey Shoot began in 2010 and brings in hunters from across the country. The fundraising event benefits the Greater Hulett Community Center (GHCC) as well as the Wyoming Wildlife Foundation.
