UW Soccer Team Hopes To Build On Late Season Run

The Wyoming Cowgirls soccer team just missed an NCAA tournament berth last year and they are out to prove that their success wasn’t a fluke.

The Cowgirls return eight starters, but lost three key seniors to graduation. Head Coach Pete Cuadrado says for that reason his team needs to use the pre-season to find leaders.

“The thing that those three seniors who played significant minutes brought us was great leadership. You know it’s gonna be new for some of the leaders we have, not that I don’t think they’re great at it, because it’s different. When you gotta worry about everyone and yourself, versus just yourself in a game, that’s gonna be different for some of those girls.”

While the team will be young, Cuadrado says they will have more depth than in recent years. Wyoming will play a pair of exhibition games before opening the season August 21st against Montana.
