Shyatt Agrees To Contract Extension

University of Wyoming men’s basketball coach Larry Shyatt has signed a contract extension through the 2019-2020 season.

Shyatt will make a base salary of $210-thousand dollars this season, increasing to $230-thousand in the last year of the contract. Shyatt will also earn extra money if players meet academic goals and he meets performance incentives. The contract also includes extra money for his coaching staff.

Shyatt says some friends wondered if he would leave Wyoming after appearing in the NCAA tourney last season.

“This is my last college job, I’ve said that over and over and you know I wanted to end on a really good high note as anybody would, but continuing was just absolute for Pam and I and our family.”

Shyatt says he did turn down an NBA opportunity to stay at Wyoming, but declined to identify the team. He has a 103 and 60 record at UW.

Bob Beck moved to Wyoming from Syracuse, New York, where he worked at WAER Syracuse Public Media as a news anchor, editor, and producer from 2023-2026. While at WAER, Beck was awarded the Syracuse Press Club-Best Public Affairs Program for 2025. Bob Beck also taught radio news for the Newhouse School at Syracuse University in New York.
