The spring season of the Northwest Wyoming Film Series begins the week of January 27. The film series is entering its eighth season of showing signature films for people in the northwest region. Harriet Bloom-Wilson, a board member of the series, said it allows residents of the Bighorn Basin the opportunity to see more than just Hollywood films.
“What we always try to do is to come up with a blend of independent films, foreign films, documentaries. And that's what we have this time. And the spring series is often also influenced by the big awards that are taking place that might we might not get access to seeing here,” said Bloom-Wilson.
She said board members get together and choose movies that they think the community will enjoy.
“We're always drawn to anything about new movies, we look up things like what's the best independent film of the year. And that small group of four of us presents a list.”
That list is then voted on. This spring series’ first showing will be of an anti-hate satire set during World War II— JoJo Rabbit. Other films include Parasite and Midnight Traveler. A total of eight different movies will be shown every Tuesday at Bighorn Cinemas in Cody.
