Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon said the state of the state is good, despite a difficult financial year thanks to COVID-19. During his annual address, Gordon said the damage of the virus will last a long time."More than 670 of our friends, neighbors, parents and grandparents have succumbed to this unpredictable disease. And I'm sad that Wyoming doesn't do as well nationally when it comes to deaths per capita," said Gordon. "And I ask myself each night as I pray, what more could we have done to save those souls who were taken from us by this hideous virus."
The state's coronavirus-related death toll has since increased to 682. Gordon added that the virus will require the legislature to consider making the largest budget cuts in state history and address the future of education funding--which he called the elephant in the room.
The governor also touted Wyoming's plan to capture carbon to the point of being net negative while criticizing the Biden administration for its energy policies that he said will hurt the state for years to come.
