The Campbell County Republican Party has nominated three local republicans for the position that became available after former county commissioner Mark Christensen resigned earlier this month.
Because Christensen is a Republican, the local GOP group was able to hold a vote to nominate three potential replacements.
Eight people applied for consideration, and during the meeting last Thursday each were asked questions about fiscal responsibility, economic development and the future of the county amidst energy industry struggles in the past year.
Party members selected Colleen Faber, Troy McKeown and Jeff Raney. Faber recently retired from Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in Gillette. McKeown said the skills he gathered in the Army would suit him well in the position. He also currently owns Don's Supermarket in Gillette. Raney is an independent business owner and a retired Army infantryman.
The Committee will forward the names to the county commissioners who will then interview candidates and vote on their choice. The date for the vote has not been announced.
