Cody Stampede Board Reorganizes After Scandal In Las Vegas

Recent events at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas caused some reshuffling of the Cody Stampede Rodeo's board.

At the event in December, Brett Richmond a Cody roper was accused of using the "N" word in reference to African Americans. It's alleged he also made remarks about the sexual habits of the Cody Nite Rodeo stock contractor's wife, Nikki Tate, and their daughters. The individual has been permanently banned from the Cody rodeo premises.

The Stampede board issued a statement Friday announcing some members stepped down and that there is a new acting president. It also officially apologized to the stock contractor's family.

Nikki Tate said she understands due to some internal conflicts this apology took a while but she's happy with the outcome.

"We're going to work together with them to mend the community, the town and let them know that everyone is united in making the rodeo great and keeping it that way with the town support," said Tate.

She said she's relieved and excited to make the 100th Annual Cody Stampede Rodeo this summer great.

"We love Cody and it's going to be much easier to move forward with a board of people that do not support this behavior," said Tate.

The accused individual has been permanently banned from the premises of the rodeo.
