Climb Wyoming says it will discontinue its Sweetwater County program due to a decrease in public funding and other considerations. The non-profit organization trains and places single mothers into career-track jobs.
Climb Wyoming’s Shannon Brooks Hamby said that the Sweetwater County Operation will shut down on October first despite the fact that the program was very successful.
“90 percent rate of employment two years out from completing the program and our graduates typically triple their income in Sweetwater County. The decision was a financial decision in response to a financial situation.”
Hamby said that they studied the costs of running each program in the state before making the difficult decision.
“It’s heartbreaking for us. We know that there are many disappointed people in the community to hear this news. We wish we had the opportunity to continue to offer these services, but this really was a tough decision that was made on behalf of the entire organization and what we do across the entire state.”
Hamby says the program has served over 100 single mothers in Sweetwater County.
