A Mountain Lion and her two cubs have been active near Jackson’s Cache Creek Trailhead and officials are warning people to be cautious.  Mary Cernicek of the Bridger Teton National Forest says people should try to avoid an encounter.
 
“It’s a good way to protect yourself by not having uncontrolled pets in the area and hang onto the little ones," Cernicek said. "Typically Mountain Lions don’t really like people, but at the same time these are some steps we can take to make sure we don’t have any encounters with them.”
 
Cernicek says if people encounter a Mountain Lion they should make themselves appear large and slowly back away.  But she says if a lion attacks, fight back.  Forest Service and wildlife officials are attempting to haze the animals further up the drainage.
