Cheyenne Audubon invites everyone for a free bird walk Oct. 18, 10 a.m. – noon, around Lions Park for an introduction to the chapter’s three new signs about birds and also to look for migrating birds. No bird watching experience is required.
Meet at the parking lot between the Children’s Village at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens and the picnic shelter. Expect to walk around the lake, about 1 mile, to view the signs. Bring water and dress for variable weather. Bring binoculars if you have them. Register with Grant Frost, 307-343-2024, to be notified of any changes in case of bad weather.
The three signs were developed and purchased by the chapter and installed by the City of Cheyenne. Lions Park has been a designated Wyoming Important Bird Area for more than 20 years and the signs explain the bird and wildlife connections: “Duck, Duck, Goose…And So Much More”, “The Trees That Keep on Giving” and “A Place for Pollinators.” The signs are located along the walk that circles the lake, starting at the beach.
