A statue cast in Wyoming is heading to Washington D.C. Eagle Bronze Foundry and Gallery in Landerwill have a sculpture on permanent display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
Eagle Bronze manager Edward Hooper says opportunities like these are what keep the company motivated. “Here we are in the small town of Lander, and here we are doing projects that people all over the country can have an idea about. And it’s awesome to be able to come back and know that you were part of something that so much bigger outside the scope of just your run of–the-mill manufacturing.”
Eagle Bronze was hired to cast a sculpture by Idaho artist Ben Victor. Hooper says the foundry’s reputation for quality made them the artist’s first choice for the project. “We’ve been casting for Ben for about five or six years now,” says Hooper. “When he got the project, because we’ve been able to prove to him that we’ve got the quality, the efficiency and the price, the minute he got the project we were in mind to complete that.”
The sculpture is of R.A. “Bob” Hoover, a World War II pilot, POW, and aviation record holder. It will be transported to the Smithsonian later this month.
Hooper says Eagle Bronze Foundry is no stranger to high profile projects. The foundry has cast statues for the Carolina Panthers as well as the city of Shanghai, China.
