A major utility in Idaho is committing to 100 percent clean energy by 2045. Idaho Power already finalized agreements to part ways with two coal-fired power plants and is still discussing breaking with a third in Wyoming. It owns one-third of the Jim Bridger plant and is working with Pacificorp and regulators to either reduce emissions or exit participation from the plant. It expects to import more clean energy from the Pacific Northwest.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Wyoming will delay nearly all of the acreage that had been proposed for a December oil and gas lease sale. Those 790,000 acres intersect with sage grouse habitat. The BLM opted to remove the parcels after a court disputed the agency’s decision to truncate a public comment period earlier this year. When the court placed a preliminary injunction requiring a full input period, the BLM dropped sage grouse habitat lands from its proposed lease sale.

A nation-wide telephone scam aimed at power company customers is beginning to target customers in Wyoming. Rocky Mountain Power which services Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado;  says a small number of its customers have been fraudulently charged by people posing as power company representatives.

Company Spokesperson Margaret Oler says the scam has been going on for several years now, but calls have recently moved towards Wyoming and the Pacific Northwest.

A high-voltage transmission line, known as Gateway West, has been approved by the Department of the Interior.  The power line will stretch 900 miles across Wyoming and into western Idaho and will transport renewable and conventionally-derived energy.
