Last year's first Sheridan Winter Rodeo and skijoring race provided an economic boost during a season when the city's tourism historically lags.
Sheridan Travel and Tourism Executive Director Shawn Parker said local businesses set revenue records and an estimated 6,000 people attended the event.
"The economic impact was just felt all the way through town and really just showed people want something to do in the winter. They want to get outside, they want to have fun, they want to shake off the cold dreary nights of January and December," he said.
Now This weekend, the city will host the event for a second time. Parker said they've expanded based on last year's response.
"This year we added a second day of skijoring so we're going to run everyone back on Sunday. So that'll bring more people into town and keep people here on Saturday night as well. We've added concerts and outdoor events at Black Tooth and Luminous," he said.
Parker said there will be more vendors along the course, and they hope to see a crowd of 10,000 people on Saturday.
"It's beyond our wildest dreams of how well the community has embraced this thing. It's just the perfect fusion of equestrian history and ranching history and ski bum sports, so we're grateful," he said.
The festivities will kick off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and skijoring races will begin at 10:00 a.m.
