Police Arrest Suspect After Shooting At Wyoming Medical Center

Wyoming Medical Center

Casper Police arrested a man after he started shooting inside of the radiology department at Wyoming Medical Center early Monday morning.

Police used a taser to apprehend the suspect, Mitchell D. Taylor before he was taken into custody at 1:26 a.m. in a building on the hospital's campus. Taylor has been initially arrested on two counts of aggravated assault; using a firearm while committing a felony, and felony property damage. He is being held at Natrona County Detention Center.

It took police about 20 minutes from hearing reports of an active shooter to the arrest. After Taylor was arrested, police determined there were no other suspects.

Police said Taylor was using a handgun and fired it in the radiology department. There were no injuries reported.

A statement from the hospital said counselors would be available to staff on Monday.

CPD is continuing to investigate and did not say if Taylor had a specific target or what his motive was.

Lt. Jeremy Tremel with the CPD said police are looking for anyone who knows Taylor, especially if they have had contact with him in the last 24 hours. People with information may contact CPD's Detective White at 307-235-8216.
