C-SPAN Program Spotlights Sheridan's History

sheridanwyoming.org

The public affairs network C-SPAN is filming in Sheridan this week for its program exploring American cities.

The C-SPAN Cities Tour producers will meet with local authors, historians and public officials to learn more about Sheridan's history. They'll also visit local historic sites. Some of the planned interviews include author Sam Western, Director and Chief Curator of the Brinton Museum Ken Schuster and Sheridan Mayor Roger Miller.

Debbie Lamb, coordinating producer for C-SPAN's Cities Tour, said Sheridan's history with ranching, mining, and rodeo will be some of the big points the program will touch on.

"The goal is to give an inside look into some of the city's rich history and nonfiction literary life," Lamb said.

Mayor Roger Miller said it's an honor for the city to be featured.

"What we all know is Sheridan is a great place to be living in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains and to be able to showcase that on a national level with a TV channel like C-SPAN is just a great opportunity for Sheridan," Miller said.

One episode will highlight Sheridan's literary impacts and the other will focus on its history. The episodes about Sheridan will air on September 7 and 8 on C-SPAN channels.
