This week marks two important religious holidays: Passover begins Wednesday, April 8 and Easter is on Sunday, April 12. But a statewide order bans Wyomingites from gathering in groups of more than 10. So, many churches and synagogues are not holding any in-person worships or gatherings. But this is a challenge as Easter and Passover are holidays where families usually do gather together.
Rabbi Zalman Mendelsohn, the co-director of the Chabad Jewish Center of Wyoming in Jackson, said the center has sent out a Passover Seder to-go kit to people all across the state.
"It's basically a one stop shop ready to-go product [to] enable people to celebrate Passover on their own if they're not used to preparing the Seder's themselves," said Rabbi Mendelsohn.
Rabbi Mendelsohn said information can be found online to help people celebrate Passover while at home.
Cody Christ Episcopal Church Rector Mary Caucutt said they are holding daily virtual services but are also recommending how church traditions can be done at home.
"We are inviting people to wash the feet of members of their families and if they are a single person to invite them to put their feet in a basin of water and to engage in a heart prayer," she said.
The Catholic Diocese of Cheyenne also has provided resources and virtual masses online.
