There are six natural gas rigs spread out between Sublette, Sweetwater, Uinta and Lincoln counties. Campbell, Converse and Johnson counties share the 15 oil rigs.

A decade ago, there were a total of two rigs in the state. They were drilling for oil in Laramie County.

Production numbers dipped slightly compared to the first three months last year. So far, the top producing gas county is Sublette, and Converse County for oil.

End of year oil production last year was at its highest in Wyoming since the late ’80s. End of year gas production was slightly higher than 2023, but still following a general downward trajectory since its peak in 2009.
