Evacuations In Bondurant Lifted

Bondurant residents who were evacuated due to the Cliff Creek Fire have been allowed to return home, although some residents in the Granite Creek area remained displaced as firefighters are still working to prevent damage to about 30 structures in that area.

Some Granite Creek Residents were escorted to their homes to collect valuables and perishables.

Teton County authorities say the Cliff Creek Fire in the Bridger-Teton National Forest has now expanded to 11,534 acres. Nearly 450 firefighters are working to put out the blaze by creating defensible spaces around structures, fighting the blaze itself, as well as dropping water from the air.

Highway 191/189 will open Friday at noon. Ronda Bishop, Public Information Officer, says drivers need to be careful.

“We just ask folks to drive cautiously and be aware there may be some firefighters along the roadway and just try to keep your speeds at a minimum.”

The fire is 10% contained. There will be a meeting Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Pinedale’s Administration Building.
