Ivinson Memorial Hospital Considers Expanding

Ivinson Memorial Hospital

Laramie’s Ivinson Memorial Hospital is considering an expansion that could lead to a new Internal Medicine Building among other things.

Hospital CEO Doug Faus said the expansion also could include the Jeannie Ray Cancer Center, parking areas, and space for University of Wyoming Medical students who are part of the WWAMI  program. The biggest priority is the Internal Medicine building. Faus says a better facility will help recruit and keep doctors.

“We’ve traveled up to Sheridan, to Douglas, Cheyenne, Casper, all of those communities have beautiful efficient physician practice spaces so we are definitely behind the times in the hospital physician offices. “

Faus says they recently hired two new doctors who noted how inadequate the current facility is. He says they could decide to do one major Medical Office Building or build the Internal Medicine building at another location.

The Hospital Board of Trustees will consider options at the end of the month.
