The pitch day for the Microbial Ecology Collaborative Startup Launchpad (MECSL) has been moved to an online space as a response to the University of Wyoming (UW) canceling all campus events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
MECSL is one of several launchpads organized by the Wyoming Technology Business Center (WTBC). It supports science-based business start-ups in Wyoming.
The pitch day is now scheduled for March 26 from 1- 4 p.m. and will now be conducted over Zoom.
"It was pretty easy for us to make that decision because we knew that a couple people would be Zooming in anyway... So it was really just a natural extension just to make it available to everyone," Fred Schmechel, assistant director at the WTBC, said.
Those interested in virtually attending the pitch day should check the WTBC website for more information.
The Fisher Innovation Challenge, another startup launchpad challenge by the WTBC, has been postponed until the fall, and the WTBC is still deciding how the pitch day for the Wind River Startup Challenge in May 2020 will be conducted. The nine finalists were announced this week.
