Samuel Beckett’s NOT I and SILENCE inspired by Marina Abramovic - Dayton
**Dayton, WY – September 18, 2024** – The Gallery on Main in Dayton, Wyoming, is pleased to announce a special presentation by current Tongue River Artist in Residence: Lander-based endurance artist, Oakley Boycott. Boycott will be presenting endurance art piece SILENCE, based on Marina Abramovic’s “The Artist is Present” from 11am-5:30pm with an open rehearsal of Samuel Beckett’s “Not I” immediately to follow at The Gallery on Main on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Oakley Boycott, a Wyoming local born in Lander,WY holds a resume that spans the realms of theater, musical theatre, film, production, curation and endurance art. A graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Boycott established herself in New York City in 2007, performing at venues such as the Metropolitan Opera, the Town Hall Theatre and Feinstein's 54 Below. Her work across the country has recently earned her a 2023 BroadwayWorld Award and 2023 Wyoming Arts Council Fellowship.
In addition to stage work, Boycott has gained recognition for endurance art performances, which explore deep themes of vulnerability, mental health, and collective connection. One of notable work, "SILENCE," was inspired by Marina Abramovic's "The Artist Is Present" and has been showcased in both New York City and Wyoming. In 2022, Boycott presented "ECHO," a three-day endurance art experience in Sinks Canyon, Wyoming, supported by the Wyoming Arts Council ARPA grant.
Boycott is a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild, Actors' Equity Association. Currently basing out of Lander, Wyoming, Oakley aims to create works that bridge the gaps of juxtaposed community connection.
