ARI HOENIG TRIO - Laramie
ARI HOENIG TRIO - Laramie
UW Jazz Studies is proud to present the Ari Hoenig Trio, Gadi Lehavi, piano; Ben Tiberio bass; and Ari Hoenig, drums.
Ari Hoenig is a celebrated jazz drummer, composer, and educator known for his unusual and intense approach to drumming emphasizing complex rhythms in direct harmony with other group members. Ari is widely noted particularly for his drumming not being relegated to just keeping tempo, or being a side issue to the music he plays in, but rather for elevating drumming as an indispensable part of the performance.
A major rising force on piano first discovered by renowned jazz musician Ravi Coltrane, Tel Aviv-born, New York-based pianist Gadi Lehavi is an artist “flowing and burning, channeling Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea” (The New York Times).
Bassist and composer Ben Tiberio is a fixture in the upper echelons of New York City’s vibrant jazz scene, his bass playing lending a crucial voice to the bands of his generation’s biggest torchbearers: Joel Ross, María Grand, Veronica Swift, and Immanuel Wilkins to name a few.
