Current U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón is coming to the Tetons to give a free talk on May 21. Limón is the first Latina to hold the prestigious title and is also the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and MacArthur “genius grant.” She’s published six books of poetry, including “The Carrying,” which won the National Book Critics Circle Award.

When Barbara Smith first moved to Rock Springs in 1969 to teach English at Western Wyoming Community College, the area was, in her own words, “just a sleepy, small town.” A few years later, Smith witnessed the community completely transform as a result of a big energy boom in the early seventies.

Joy Harjo, a Ucross alumna and the 23rd U.S. Poet Laureate and Larry Mitchell, a Grammy Award-winning musician and Harjo's longtime musical collaborator, will perform at the WYO Theater on Feb. 25.
