Wyoming now has a clinic that provides surgical abortions. The Casper reproductive health clinic opened its doors last week, but its opening was delayed by about 11 months because it was torched by an arsonist one month before its planned opening.

As the fight over abortion rights continues, a clinic in Casper that provides both surgical and medical abortion is finally open. The clinic was torched by an arsonist last spring. The arson suspect was arrested and charged in mid-March.

Back in May of 2022, a women’s reproductive health clinic in Casper that will also provide abortions was preparing to open when it was set on fire. Over 10 months later, the Casper Police Department has arrested a suspect.

The personal finance website WalletHub ranked the Oil City second nationwide as having the lowest average increase in household credit card debt. The findings, which were released earlier this month, lists 182 cities large and small. Some other cities in the region were ranked as having lower increases while other experienced higher credit card debt loads in 2022.

The concert will feature guest pianist Steven Lin, a Taiwanese-American musician who has performed at venues worldwide and who's making his third appearance in Wyoming. The concert is part of the orchestra's 73rd season.

Since it opened in 2002, approximately 600,000 visitors have passed through, which tells the stories and histories of westward expansion via the California, Oregon, Mormon Pioneer, and Pony Express trails. Infrastructure upgrades and additional educational opportunities for the public are planned for the coming years that add to their existing permanent and temporary exhibits.

Sheridan County officials will open warming shelters in Sheridan if need be to house those who need shelter through Dec. 23. The Wyoming Rescue Mission, the state's largest homeless shelter in Casper, is also offering shelter and warm meals to those who need them this season.

Casper voted on Tuesday, Dec. 6, to add protections against discrimination to their municipal code. The council voted 8-1 to pass the policy.

The Ford Wyoming Center, formerly known as the Casper Events Center, is celebrating its 40 anniversary this year. It’s hosted some of the biggest names in entertainment, music, politics, and sports over the last four decades. Wyoming Public Radio’s Hugh Cook spoke with Brad Murphy, the facility’s general manager, about its history, how it’s celebrating 40 years, and its future.
