Evelyn Ankers was Queen of the Screamers due to her long career as a B-movie horror actress.
She was the love interest of The Wolf Man in the 1941 film of the same name. But love wasn't in the air during filming.
Lon Chaney Jr., who played the wolf man, drank heavily and damaged studio property. To punish him, the studio gave Ankers his dressing room.
Chaney took it out on his costar. He terrified the actress by sneaking up on her while in werewolf costume.
That wasn't all. In a fight scene with a bear, the animal instead chased Ankers up a ladder.
And there's more. She was to faint in the film's last scene. And she did - from artificial fog fumes. No one noticed her missing.
