All Catholic Masses Suspended, Diocese Developing New Resources

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Cheyenne has suspended all masses for the foreseeable future in order to encourage social distancing.

The decision was made after Bishop Steve Biegler spoke with state leaders. Diana Maria Wagoner, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cheyenne's communication director, said a mass will be televised on ABC every Sunday at 9 a.m. She said the diocese is working to offer other options as well.

"We are looking at some ways to provide live streamed masses to our brothers and sisters who don't have access to television masses in both English and Spanish," she said.

She added they are in the process of developing other resources to support the community.

"There are ways that families and individuals can read the scriptures together, can pray together, can talk about their faith with one another," said Wagoner. "We've also talked about having priests possibly call their parishioners just to check in with them, especially those whom we know are homebound."

More information will be updated on the diocese's website.
