Wyoming Delegation Pushes Back On Moratorium

Brittany Patterson

Wyoming U.S. Sen. Cynthia Lummis has introduced legislation that would prevent a moratorium on oil, gas, or coal without congressional approval. U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney has also offered similar legislation in the House. Lummis said the impacts of such a moratorium are enormous.

"What I'm concerned about is the loss of jobs and the loss of revenue for the state at a time when it's already suffering and increasing energy prices for people with low income," she said.

Lummis believes her legislation would overturn President Biden's moratorium of development on federal land, which could have a drastic impact on Wyoming's revenue. Gov. Mark Gordon issued a statement supporting the efforts by Lummis and Cheney.
