Legislative conference committee discusses redistricting compromise

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon said despite some concerns expressed by legislators, he’s generally pleased with the legislative redistricting bill.

During his end of the legislative session news conference, the governor said he’s not worried about the fact that Sheridan County is slightly over deviation after lawmakers moved the towns of Arvada and Clearmont into a Johnson County legislative district.

“I feel very comfortable with my neighbors being in the district they’re accustomed to shopping in, going to the feed store, or selling their cattle. So from that perspective I think it was a good solution,” Gordon said.

He added that he’s not concerned about any other parts of the map.

Gordon added that he’s not been made aware of any potential lawsuits regarding the redistricting effort.
