The Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation and Wyoming Rising are co-sponsoring an event focused on non-citizen employees of Park County.

The event hopes to create a local conversation around the national topic of immigration. Park County relies heavily on foreign workers for tourism season which begins in May and runs until fall.

Mary Ellen Ibarro Robinson is a member of Wyoming Rising, which is a grassroots organization. She said many people question why local businesses decide to hire outside of the country, so she wants some questions to be answered.

"Why they employ noncitizens in their business, and how they go about doing so, and who these noncitizens are, and what they contribute to Park County," she said.

Representative David Northrup will provide an introduction which will be followed by local representatives of the hospitality, farming and ranching industries. The event takes place Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center.
