The Fremont Symphony Orchestra & Salzburger Echo Alphorns Perform “Bohemian Mountain Music” - Lander
The Fremont Symphony Orchestra is presenting a program called “Bohemian Mountain Music,” according to Music Director, Rebecca Murdock. The concert will be performed at the Lander Valley High School auditorium at 7 pm on Saturday, November 2 and tickets are available online at www.FremontSymphonyOrchestra.org.
The FSO will feature the alphorn players of Salzburger Echo, an internationally touring ensemble from Salt Lake City, Utah. Salzburger Echo brings the Alps to their audiences, playing Old World and contemporary folk music from the alpine regions of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
The ensemble has performed together for over 30 years and has been featured at countless venues and many of the largest festivals throughout the United States and Europe. They feature twelve-foot alphorns, Swiss cowbells, and harmony yodeling. They are one of the most sought-after alpine bands in the nation. The FSO will feature the Alphorns in several works they perform.
Additionally, the FSO will be performing “Also Sprach Zarathustra” by Richard Strauss which as the 2001 Space Odyssey theme song. popular selections from the “Sound of Music” musical from the early 1960s, “Land der Berge, Land Am Strome” by Mozart, “Roses from the South” Waltz by Johann Strauss Jr., and “3 Old Viennese Dances” by Fritz Kreisler, “Minuet and Tarantella” by Von Suppe, and “Two Hearts in ¾ Time” by Rober Stalz will round out their program.
The FSO was founded by Murdock and has showcased both local and international talent throughout its many years of performing in Lander. It is operated by a local board of directors as a non-profit. Contributions may be mailed to the Fremont Symphony Orchestra at 811 Cindy Circle in Riverton, WY 82501-3040.
