Pet Partners In-Person Therapy Animal Handler's Course - Jackson
Pet Partners In-Person Therapy Animal Handler's Course - Jackson
Do you and your pet want to volunteer as a therapy animal team in Teton County? If so, taking and passing a Therapy Animal Handler's Course is one of the first steps in the process.
We’re excited to offer our first in-person therapy animal handler's course, taught by Pet Partners Evaluator Dr. Elizabeth Lynch. Thanks to our TCPP volunteers and the Teton County Library, this course, normally an $80 value, will be free of charge. To attend, you must sign up by emailing info@tcpetpartners.org.
This in-person course covers all of the material presented in the online version, including:
-- Advocating for your animal
-- Understanding canine body language
-- Handling skills
-- HIPAA and privacy rules
-- Preventing disease transmission
-- Preparing teams to successfully pass the Pet Partners team evaluation
Please note: You must complete and pass either the online or in-person Therapy Animal Handler Course before attending a team evaluation. Our next evaluation will be held Wednesday, February 11.
Our therapy animal teams bring comfort and connection to hospitals, schools, libraries, and other local organizations. If you have questions or want to sign up for the course and/or our next team evaluation, please contact Kelly at info@tcpetpartners.org.
