Make it Wild: Birds of a Color: Exploring Color Mixing in Pastel - Jackson

Make it Wild: Birds of a Color: Exploring Color Mixing in Pastel - Jackson

In this live class, join Pastel Society of America Signature Artist Jennifer L. Hoffman to explore various approaches to pastel color mixing in this 2-hour exploration. Using birds as subject matter, Jen will guide participants through the concepts of visual color mixing, blending, underpainting, and color play by creating the same composition in three variations.

Suggested Supplies to Bring:
For this class, participants are encouraged to bring their own soft pastels. Participants will have plenty of materials to explore from both the Museum and Jen’s personal art supplies, but bringing your own pastels will help you get the most out of the class. If able, please bring:
-Your favorite soft pastels in a range of light to dark values and a variety of colors (no oil pastels, please).
-A small set of high-quality soft pastels, such as Terry Ludwig, Sennelier, Great American Artworks, Richeson, is suggested. Half-stick sets are a great, more affordable option.
-Please avoid inexpensive “chalk” sets, as these are simply dyed chalk and won’t mix or blend effectively.
